Kitesurfing in Phan Rang.
For a Phan Rang kite trip, plan around the water as well as the wind. My Hoa's tidal lagoon makes spot choice and session timing part of the trip, before you arrive.
Plan lessons, coaching or a trip
My Hoa is a specific spot.
Phan Rang is the destination name; My Hoa lagoon is a particular kite spot northeast of town. Phi Kite School describes flatter water inside the reef and more challenging water around it. Source Kiteboarding also distinguishes the lagoon from the outer reef.
This may suit an experienced rider planning focused practice, provided the available water and wind match the task. For coaching, describe what you can do independently and the skill you want to improve. A rider working on transitions needs a different session from someone seeking wave-riding guidance.
Beginners should ask about a supervised teaching plan rather than select Phan Rang simply because the water looks flat. Any proposed lesson still depends on the actual teaching area and conditions. This page does not establish that a particular part of the lagoon is suitable for you.
Tide checks come before launch.
Both local operators describe My Hoa as tide-dependent. Parts of the shallow lagoon can dry out at low water, according to Phi. Its guide advises checking wind and tide and asking the local team before launching if unfamiliar with the reef.
Ask which forecast station and water-depth window apply to the intended riding area. A high-tide time alone is not a clearance to ride. Get a briefing on reef boundaries, entry and exit, protective footwear and emergency support. Avoid walking on or launching across exposed reef; obtain local guidance rather than trying to reach deeper water yourself.
Use the season as a starting point.
Phi lists November to April as its main North–Northeast wind season and describes lighter, less consistent summer wind. Source uses a broader October-to-May high-season range. The guides' boundaries differ; neither establishes guaranteed wind or a safe riding window on your dates.
Before making a short trip, ask whether the expected wind and lagoon depth overlap during the days you can ride. Keep space in your itinerary for an unsuitable day. Do not assume the same location or session plan will work across seasons.
Prepare a trip that can be assessed.
- Base and travel: state whether you plan to stay in town or near My Hoa. Confirm the exact spot before arranging transport or accommodation.
- Independent skills: explain your upwind riding, relaunch and self-rescue experience, plus any long break from kiting.
- Coaching goal: name one priority and ask how it fits the available water, rather than assuming every discipline suits the lagoon.
- Equipment and support: discuss the forecast, appropriate gear, launch assistance and emergency arrangements. None is confirmed as included here.
If combining Mui Ne and Phan Rang, agree the purpose of the second stop before planning a guided trip. The planner can prepare those questions; it cannot confirm a route, transport, availability or a booking.
Your next step
Plan for Phan Rang.
Choose a starting point in the homepage enquiry planner. Add your level, dates and questions there, then continue in Telegram or by email. Opening either app does not automatically send your message or confirm a booking.
Confirm instructor details, pricing, equipment, availability, meeting point and weather or cancellation terms before booking.
Before you choose.
Can I ride My Hoa lagoon whenever the wind is blowing?
No. Wind is only one part of the decision. Local operators describe a tidal lagoon that can become too shallow or dry. Ask for a suitable water-depth window for your dates and discipline, and an on-site briefing; this guide provides no safe tide-height threshold.
Does flat-looking water make Phan Rang an automatic beginner choice?
No. The relevant questions include water depth, reef exposure, wind strength, teaching space and supervision. Ask whether a first lesson can be arranged in an appropriate area for the actual conditions. Do not assume that a lagoon photograph demonstrates a safe learning environment.
Should I stay in Phan Rang town or near My Hoa?
Confirm which spot a proposed session would use before deciding. My Hoa is northeast of town, so compare your accommodation location with the agreed meeting point and arrange transport separately. No accommodation or transfer is included or bookable through this planner.
Can a guided trip include the outer reef?
The lagoon and outer reef are different environments. Do not treat the reef as a fallback when the lagoon is too shallow. Discuss your experience, suitable conditions, access and support with a local professional; no outer-reef itinerary is offered or confirmed here.
